Kathleen Rooney tells us about life.
On a bus trip from Milwaukee back to Ohio today I finished Robinson Alone, and I admit to being entirely taken with it on a whole. It’s been quite a while since a full length book of poetry has kept be as engaged from start to finish. Rooney is perfectly in tune and capable of conducting an incredible orchestra of emotive landscapes as she leads us through a manuscript intricately constructed from a biographical survey of Weldon Kees. That being said, this text speaks clearly of the human condition regardless of your acquaintance with Kees’ story. I encourage you to seek it.
meanwhile… let Rooney tell you how beautiful is life.
