Luis Humberto Valadez is a writer/musician/ performer emanating from Chicago Heights, IL. His first book of poetry “what i’m on” was published by University of Arizona Press in 2009. His first extended play release “wat ahm on (ep)” was released by Last Minute Records 2009. As a writer, he’s looking to start conversations and partnerships with receivers. As a performer he’s looking to collaborate with an audience that will have him. He attended Columbia College Chicago and The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University. He currently works and teaches in Chicago with Chicago HOPES and Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education.

 

This book and CD are packaged together on the impetus that medium is an opportunity for elucidation, words are a great icebreaker, and internal dialogues are often as fruitful as those that match faces. No one medium ever makes apparent the layers of experience and subliminal thought and action that drive a piece of art. We hope you choose to relish in the interplay between words and music in both products as you traverse through this package. If you find something appalling on disc, make sure that it does not also appall in the text. If you find yourself caught in the rhythm of a tune, ask yourself where you hear it most loudly; in print or on disc?
